LA LA LAND : magie des grands classiques des comèdies musicales avec une histoire dans l'histoire

Pour se préparer au film, Emma Stone et Ryan Gosling ont suivi de nombreux cours de chant et de danse. La plupart des chansons de La La Land sont préalablement enregistrées en studio, à l'exception de trois scènes : Someone in the Crowd (le solo d'Emma Stone), le duo City of Stars et la chanson Audition. Ryan Gosling ne savait d'ailleurs pas jouer du piano lorsqu'il a été choisi pour le rôle, et a dû s'entraîner pendant trois mois avant le début du tournage.

Alors qu'une doublure main est dans un premier temps envisagé, Ryan Gosling a tellement travaillé que c'est lui aussi qui joue toutes les scènes où on le voit au piano. Pour être à l'aise sur les scènes dansées, les deux comédiens ont répété les chorégraphies pendant trois à quatre mois.

Un long et difficile travail qui s'est avéré payant à l'écran, puisque La La Land a remporté six Oscars : Meilleur réalisateur, Meilleure actrice (Emma Stone), meilleure photographie, meilleure musique originale, meilleure chanson originale et meilleurs décors.
